Virtues Trail
In early 2018, the Faribault Mainstreet Program launched the Artist on Main Street Project. This project invited local artists and art lovers to dream about projects that could be installed in or near downtown Faribault.
Wanda Holmgren, local elementary school art teacher and virtues enthusiast, began to dream of ways to help her students understand how special and valued they are! When getting ready to attend the meeting about the Artist on Main Street grant opportunity she stood before her bathroom mirror and her idea was born.
Wanda was one of the recipients of grant funding from Artists on Main Street and with the help of the local Virtues Project group secured funds and technical assistance to make her project come to life.
On August 22, 2018 a Grand opening event was held to celebrate Virtues Trail.
Virtues Trail located in Heritage Bluffs Park (between The Depot and Cork and Pint restaurants) has 20 signs with virtues affirmations in three languages, English, Spanish and Somali!
Now Wanda's students, all kids, and everyone who walks the trail can stand before each of the 20 signs and recognize the virtues within them!
